DAY 3 - IC U16 JUNIOR CHALLENGE WORLDWIDE FINALS

Welcome to the Day 3 round-up from the IC U16 Junior Challenge Worldwide Finals at The All England Lawn Tennis Club. Two of today's matches involved mixed doubles play-offs: Argentina beat Japan 4-3; Italy beat Great Britain 4-3; and the USA beat Japan 6-0. The USA currently top the leader board with 3 wins.

Argentina 4 - 3 South Africa
The Argentinian boys and South African girls both came out strong today winning their respective singles and doubles matches. In the mixed doubles play-off match Genaro Alberto Olivieri and Augustina Zamprogno representing the IC of Argentina got off to a quick start and secured the rubber with a 10-5 tie-break win against the South African pair of Jan Louis Martiz and Lee Barnard.

Italy 4 - 3 Great Britain
The British team established a 3 -1 lead after the singles with wins for both boys and at the number 2 girl position. However, the IC of Italy fought back to level the tie by winning both doubles matches in third set tie-breaks. Corrado Summariva and Beatrice Torelli also went on to win the second mixed doubles play-off of the day with a 10-8 win against the British duo of Alexis Canter / Eden Richardson.

USA 6 - 0 Japan
The IC of Japan against the IC of USA undoubtedly witnessed the match of the day with Brian Tsao from the USA beating Haru Fukushima 18-16 in the third set tie-break. Although two more matches went the distance, the US team proved too strong and came through with the overall victory to place them at the top of the leader board going into day 4.
