Hurlingham Garden Party, 20th June 2010

After the IC of GB won the historic 150^th match against the IC of France there was a relaxed event between the two ICs at the annual IC Garden Party at Hurlingham on Sunday 20 June 2010. There were 4 matches on the show courts which were played for the best of three sets with the third set a 10 point tie break. The other matches which were played on the three lower courts were limited to a proset only.

The show court matches were of high quality and ended 3-1 in favour of GB, but the proset matches were clearly too short for GB players to get into their rhythm properly leading to an overall win for the French by 13 to 8.

The grass courts were in excellent condition and it was as always a pleasure and an honour to be able to play at the Hurlingham Club. Many of the French side had never been at this Clulb and they were understandably very impressed.

As an expression of our considerable appreciation for the hospitality offered to us each year by the Hurlingham Club the Chairman of the IC, David Waite, presented a bench to the Chairman of the Hurlingham Club, Jim Sanger.
