The opening round of matches finished seven-all after the first day’s play. However, the match was switched to another local indoor club on the Sunday due to rain, which meant it was only possible to complete another five matches. The IC of GB duly won them all and completed a resounding 12-7 victory. The formal dinner after the match was a particular highlight with amusing speeches from IC of GB Captain Alan Purnell, as well as from Mark Beim and Thierry Pham. The team also had the pleasure of attending the first day’s play at Roland Garros. Although the inclement weather continued in the morning, it soon brightened up, and the team enjoyed a fantastic day of play on Court Philippe Chatrier. Thanks again go to Thierry for the tickets and access to Roland Garros, and of course Daniel for his organisational skills, juggling bad weather and lack of available players.
