IC of GB Verses Harvard and Yale - Weatherill Cup, 3rd August

We had an excellent match against the Harvard & Yale boys, who were a strong team, and who later that week defeated Oxford & Cambridge in the Prentice Cup. The IC had a good team of Stuart Rhodes and John Doran, Richard Ground & Ross Niland and Simon Bramwell & Mark George. But it was not good enough to defeat the Americans who were match tight after a month of tennis on grass. Early on it looked like the IC would run the Harvard/Yale boys close - with the teams level at 3-3 after two rounds - but youth triumphed over experience in the final round with the Harvard/Yale team winning 6-3 overall. We had a very nice dinner afterwards - with Barry and Rineke Weatherill on hand to present the Weatherill to the Harvard/Yale Captain. Many thanks to Roehampton for hosting a great day and evening.
