The Maharajah of Kutch Trophy match involves tennis and golf for Seniors with two separate trophies - The Maharajah of Kutch Trophy for tennis - and Le Touquet Trophy for the golf. The IC of GB team was made up of 3 Ladies and 5 Men, Anne Clark, Pat Wire, Anthea Stewart, Derek Bradshaw, Bill Gowans, Benson Greatrex, David Martin and Mike Stotesbury. Due to the numbers involved, Caroline Greatrex, Tara Stotesbury and Keith Wire played golf as guests for the IC of GB and a local golfer Josette Clarke (whose husband is English!) also played for us.

Daniel Alexandre’s organisation was excellent, with a restaurant reserved for Thursday and Friday nights and the official dinner at Coutainville Golf Club on Saturday evening. 

Attempting to regain the Tennis Trophy, after a narrow defeat two years ago at Moor Park, the team got off to a good start taking a 7-1 lead in Friday’s matches. Having retained the golf trophy with a draw in the previous match at Moor Park, Friday’s  three 4-ball better ball golf matches, played at Granville Golf Club, a fine links course, finished with one win for each side and one match halved. 

On Saturday the tennis matches got underway at about 10.30 and our winning streak continued, taking three of the five rubbers played, for the IC of GB to finish the match as 10-3 winners. In Saturday’s four 4-ball golf matches, played at Coutainville GC, an attractive course with 13 links holes and 5 parkland holes,  the IC of GB managed to win two, lose one and halve the final match to end up with a 4-3 win.
