IC of GB v Fitzwilliam Match: IC of GB v Fitzwilliam Venue: Raynes Park Community Ground Date: 15th April 2023 On Saturday 15th April 2023, a Fitzwilliam team comprising 4 men and 2 women travelled to London to compete in the annual fixture vs the IC of GB. The tie would feature 6 singles matches, 1 men's doubles and 2 mixed doubles. In the singles, the IC men fought some very closely contested matches, sharing the honours with their Irish opponents to leave the tie poised at 2-2. Meanwhile the IC ladies were far too strong and won comfortably in both their singles matches, giving the IC a 4-2 lead going into the doubles. The IC team rounded off a 6-3 victory as they claimed both of the mixed doubles encounters, while Fitz won the remaining men's doubles. True to form, this fixture contained a fantastic mix of competitive tennis, played in excellent spirits, alongside the usual camaraderie that has become a big part of the relationship between these two clubs. It was a delight to spend the weekend with such an affable Fitzwilliam team, and I would also like to thank the home team for being excellent hosts and ambassadors for the IC of GB.
