IC of Germany (Dunlop Trophy) 29th and 30th April 2017 Result: IC of GB 5 – 3 IC of Germany Venue: Frankfurter Tennis Club The IC of GB delivered a win in the annual fixture against the IC of Germany at the FTC 1914 Palmengarten in Frankfurt. Represented by Jurate Hardy, Matt Coombes, Phil King, Tony King and Jeremy Woods, the touring team took a commanding 4-2 lead on Saturday. Unfortunately, the match only featured two doubles the following day due to various injuries and one win proved to be enough for an overall 5 – 3 victory. The IC of Germany team included their President Alex Kurucz who played doubles on Sunday; it was Alex who donated the Dunlop Trophy in 2008. The matches were extremely competitive with the ladies singles between Silke Meier-Heckmann and Jurate Hardy and the men's singles between Jörg Müller and Matt Coombes being particularly close. The IC of Germany were excellent hosts and we would like to thank Wolfgang Popp for delivering an extremely well organised fixture and Detlef Braun for arranging the official dinner at the Union International Club in their historic building.
