Maharajah of Kutch Tennis Trophy – Result: IC of GB 7 – 3 IC of France
Le Touquet Golf Cup – Result: IC of GB 3 – 1 IC of France

This year’s Maharajah of Kutch 45+ tennis and golf match was played over two days at Moor Park, with golf on Thursday being played at Gerrards Cross Golf Club.  The IC of France brought three golfers, including their President Thierry Pham and four tennis players.

The golfers played at the picturesque (but hilly!) Gerrards Cross Golf Club on Thursday. Playing 4 ball better ball matchplay David Waite and Alec Allen narrowly lost to Thierry Pham and Christian Peugeot with Alan Purnell and Julian Tatum levelling the match against Patrick Faviere and Caroline Greatrex (IC of France guest player).

Meanwhile at Moor Park the IC of GB with a relatively strong team went 4-1 up in the tennis.

Thursday dinner was at the Bull Hotel where the IC of France team were staying.

On Friday the golf and tennis were both at Moor Park. There were a number of changes in the IC of GB team for Friday with Anne Clark added to the tennis team and Shamus Donald and Simon Curtis replacing Alan Purnell and Julian Tatum in the golf. Tony Billington replaced Caroline Greatrex as the guest IC of France golfer.

The Friday golf results ended with both the IC of GB pairs of David Waite and Simon Curtis and Shamus Donald and Alec Allen winning to retain the Le Touquet Golf Cup 3-1.

With a further 5 tennis rubbers played on Friday the IC of GB managed to win the tennis match 7-3 to retain the Maharajah of Kutch Trophy.

The official dinner was held in the magnificent Thornhill Room at Moor Park on Friday evening.

Our thanks to Benson Greatrex (captain), Bill Gowans and Anthea Stewart for organising the fixture and the IC of France team for making the match so enjoyable, with particular thanks to Dominique Legat the IC of France match manager.

The next Maharajah fixture will be in France in 2020.
